The purpose of this project is to improve the mobility and safety of SR-14 at Hot Springs Way intersection in Skamania County, by adding acceleration and deceleration lanes. Currently, the speed change at this intersection is substantial and creates a conflict. The Port of Skamania County is developing land near this intersection, which will create additional conflict as slow moving trucks pull off and on the state highway.

The purpose of this project is to improve the mobility and safety of the SR-14 and Wind River Road intersection in Skamania County. Currently, access between Wind River Road and SR-14 east of the intersection is limited because of the sharp alignment angle and poor sight distance. The intersection geometry makes westbound access to Wind River Road impossible for freight traffic and dangerous for automobile traffic.

Throughout the length of SR-14 in Skamania County, there are a large number of unstable slope problems that pose a danger to the traveling public. WSDOT has developed a corridor rockfall plan that prioritizes needs and provides potential solutions to high rated unstable slopes. Often these highest rated unstable slopes are also the most expensive to fix. Although the State continues to make unstable slope improvements along SR-14, the need is much greater than the available resource. This...

The Port of Klickitat County, WSDOT, and partners are proposing a grade separation project to provide freight and automobile access into the port’s Bingen Point property over the main Burlington Northern and Santa Fe rail line. The proposed project will improve access to regional employers including Insitu (Boeing) Custom Interface, and SDS Lumber. The project will improve safety by providing an additional vehicle access point that does not have a rail conflict.

Klickitat County needs to perform a county-wide overlay to create an all weather haul network within the county. Klickitat County has several areas throughout the county that rely on major roads as the sole access route to transport local goods to markets. Currently these roads do not have the necessary structure to provide year-round service for the heavy trucks used to transport these goods. Until the structure of these roads is improved, they must be closed during the freeze/thaw season...

This project will replace the SR 20/Sharpes Corner signalized intersection with a modified roundabout, a bypass lane for traffic heading west to Anacortes and a single-lane tunnel for traffic heading east from Anacortes towards Burlington. A second roundabout would also be built half a mile to the south on SR 20, to address traffic flow problems at the Miller-Gibralter intersection, which could be increased once traffic flow is improved by the Sharpes Corner roundabout.

This project will be needed when SR 20 Spur/Sharpes Corner Vicinity improvements are implemented. It provides a connection to Anacortes from Sharpes Corner (Whidbey Island) for bicycles/pedestrians and motor vehicles via Old Brook Lane - S. Fidalgo Bay Road. It will eliminate cross-highway turning movements and will provide bicyclists and pedestrians with access over SR 20 Spur to the Tommy Thompson Trail, connecting routes to Anacortes, Whidbey Island, Burlington and Mount Vernon.
